Nobel Spirit

Nobel Spirit is a special session of the ISABS conference for the general public. The aim is to stimulate public discussion on the role of science in solving global health issues, acute regional problems such as brain drain, demographic decline, as well as cultural and social change.

The next Nobel Spirit televised session (Croatian Radiotelevision) will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022. The confirmed participants are:

  • Aaron Ciechanover (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2004; Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel),
  • Sir Richard John Roberts (Nobel Prize in medicine in Physiology and Medicine 1993; Northeastern University, Boston, MA, USA & New England Biolabs, Ipswich, MA, USA),
  • Thomas Südhof (Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine 2013; University of Stanford, Palo Alto, CA, USA).

The session will be open to the public with the audience including Government ministers, members of the Parliament, hospital and institute directors, university rectors, deans of schools, journalists as well as delegates from various countries. We deem particularly important the presence in the audience of high school and university students. We plan the session with each speaker presenting the discoveries for which they’ve been honored, followed by the moderated round table with the aim to inspire dialogue.
